 I’ve been in the moving industry since 2003 and pretty much seen everything. I Want share some tips on do-it-yourself moving that might additionally help you save some cash if you ever have to relocate.You’re not alone.       Packing material can also be expensive if you think your only option is bubble wrap. Creatively wrap fragile items with things you already have. Kitchen towels, clothing, old bath towels, newspaper, or any other soft material will work well. My mom gave me a huge roll of butcher paper she had in her basement to use when I ran out of newspaper. It worked like a charm, and we burned it in the fireplace at our new home as we unpacked.

     3. Pack yourself or ask for help

         Sort out the items to pack. Once you are done with the planning of what to carry, start sorting out the things. Sort one room at a time and keep the items in a common space where you have decided to pack your items. This is important and will help you pack fast else you will yourself forget that where you have kept the sorted things and ultimately you will be in a mess.

You need not waste much time properly folding the casual dresses and instead use nice garbage bags to keep them. As far as the other delicate things are concerned, be careful with those. Use strong boxes and proper cushioning to protect them from breaking during transportation. The tapes used must also be strong so that they do not tear easily.

     4:Pack Drawers For Moving

        The good news is that many of your drawers don’t have to be packed before you move. In fact, keeping certain drawers full, and inside the dresser saves room in the moving van or truck and means less time unpacking once you’ve moved into your new home. 

Keep in mind that not packing drawers for moving allows the contents to move around during the move, which means they’re less protected. Moving contents can also damage the interiors of the drawers. On the other hand, removing items in drawers offers more protection, but that also requires more time, more packing equipment and can result in needing a larger moving truck (more $$).

• Load a Truck With the Heaviest Items First

The heaviest of your items need to be the first to be packed. This will help to maximize the space and keep the rear of the truck from dragging if it becomes too heavy. The items that you want to load first are:

- Appliances: keep these items upright and distribute them along the back wall of the truck. If you are loading a washer and dryer, you should put them on the opposite side of the refrigerator.

- Furniture: large pieces of furniture should be loaded next. This includes sofas, chairs, and entertainment units.

These items will be packed from floor to ceiling and the heaviest items should be loaded on the bottom. You should be packing 2-3 foot tiers with these items and wrapping a strap around each tier to keep the items secure.

Try and create even surfaces and move from the back of the truck forward.
